my phone doesn't want to switch on, but there is a sound when I connect with a USB from the computer

Hi my name is Fezile and my Vodafone smart tab 3G, doesn't want to switch on. I've tried connecting it to the computer with a USB cable, the computer made a sound to say that something is connected and the tablet didn't switch on. Please help
